ENGLERT, Katharina (Nee Kehl)

The family sadly announces the passing of Katharina, our beloved mom and grandmother, on November 30, 2013 at age 91, in Beaconsfield Quebec. Born in Hrastovac Yugoslavia on February 1, 1922. Predeceased by her husband Jakob and her brothers Heinrich, Hans, and Eric Kehl. Dear mother of John and wife Cindy DeLorenzo, Mary Helen and husband Mark Soodeen, and step-son Jacques Englert and wife Monique. Loving grandmother (Oma) to Sonya, Isabella, Julia and Sebastian.

After emigrating from Germany, Katharina lived in Windsor Ontario for over 60 years. She loved her days at the family cottage in Leamington Ontario and her bingo, card games, and friends at the German Teutonia Club. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church since 1953, gladly getting up early for the 9 AM German service. In August 2012, at age 90, Katharina gathered up her courage to leave her roots in Windsor Ontario and move to Quebec. Katharina’s greatest joy was her family, who she loved being with and caring for until her last day.

Visitation will be at the Morris Sutton Funeral Home & Chapel, 68 Giles Blvd. East on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be in the Chapel on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM followed by burial at Victoria Memorial Gardens. Pastor Gilvan de Azevedo from First Lutheran Church will be officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Katharina may be made to the Downtown Mission of Windsor.
