<div itemprop="description">VIDLER, Gerald Albert &ldquo;Gerry&rdquo; <br /> <br />Rose to glory on March 8, 2014 under the amazing caregivers at Met Hospital. Beloved husband of 63 years to Anne (nee Harvey). Loving father to Linda Spinks (Bruce), Carolyn Campbell (Mark Bates), Barbara Pilutti (Bill Enwright) and Gary Vidler (Kathy). Proud grandpa to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law to Ruth Durst (late Don) and predeceased by his sisters Vera and Dorothy, and sisters-in-law Laura, Florence, and brother-in-law Charles. He will also be sadly missed by many family members and friends. <br /> <br />Served in the Canadian Navy in WWII on Aircraft Carrier &ldquo;Puncher&rdquo; (North Atlantic). Retired from Chrysler Corp 198 after 37 years of service. After retirement, he was the Caretaker for 17 years and board and choir member at Victoria United and Disciples of Christ Churches. He was a volunteer at Metropolitan Hospital for many years in the O.R. <br /> <br />He was a canvasser for the Kidney Foundation. He was Secretary of W.E.C.S.S.O. Windsor Retirees Sports Org. as an original member from 1988 taking part in baseball and volleyball into his 85th year. He bowled in the Wednesday Senior Bowling League for many years, and enjoyed meeting for breakfast with his skating friends. <br /> <br />Executive member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 578, and later Branch 12. He loved composing songs, writing poetry, and sharing his gifts. <br /> <br />Visitation at the MORRIS SUTTON FUNERAL HOME, 68 Giles Blvd. E. (519-254-8633) on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Windsor Veteran's Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. Rev. Beverly Diet officiating.
