<div itemprop="description">VINSON/Price, Erma Irettea <br />(nee Travis) <br />passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2013, at H&ocirc;tel-Dieu Grace Hospital. She was surrounded by family and friends guiding her home with prayers and song. Erma was loved dearly by her children Bernice Mittie Price-Cheboud (Matheos Cheboud), Michelle Marie Vinson (Chris Keller), James Clinton Vinson (Kelly Haggerty), Robert William Vinson, Brian Timothy Vinson (Jillian Leggatt), and longtime foster sons Harold Cecil Shreve and Kevin Charles Doherty, as well as her boys Dr. Godfrey Bacheyie, Dr. Joseph Galiwango, Doug Jones, and Maurice Lewis. She is also survived by her grandchildren James, Teresa, Jordan, and Hailey. Erma was born on March 23, 1924 in Raleigh Township, Chatham to the late Charles Travis and Mary Elizabeth (Stevens) Travis. She was one of eleven children, sisters Eileen and Mildred Travis, Pearl Van Dusen, Alice Wright, Beulah Gibson, Helen Jones, Donna Shearing, and brothers Walter and Cecil Travis all preceded her in death. Erma is survived by one sister Geraldine Ladd, brother-in-law Theodore Jones, and sister-in-law Wilhelmina Travis. Erma will be missed by an abundance of nieces, nephews and friends who she always treated as family. Erma was predeceased by her first husband Rev. Roosevelt Bernie Price. She then married the late Rev. Adam Vinson and became mother to his children. Erma dedicated her life to fostering children in need and serving her community. As a foster parent, she welcomed over 250 children into her home since 1951 and touched the lives of many others. Over the years, Erma received a multitude of awards from the provincial and federal governments, the Children's Aid Society, the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and most notably the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada from the Governor General of Canada. An Evangelist and founding member of Price Memorial AME Church, Erma's faith was unwavering and she took comfort in knowing that her journey continues with her Lord. To God be the glory. Funeral Service to Celebrate Erma's life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday June 22, 2013 at 1:30pm. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
