<div itemprop="description">TOMEN, Daniel <br /> <br />Born November 13, 1922 and passed away in his 92nd year on May 5, 2014, at the University Hospital of London of a heart attack. Married 65 years to his DEVOTED AND LOVING WIFE Catherine Barbara (Nee Hollich). Together they have 7 children: Shirley and Paul O&rsquo;Brien of Cobourg, Karen and Bob Gal of Edmonton, Esther and John Bradt of Windsor, Danny Tomen of London, James and Sue Tomen of London, Carroll and Rob MacIntosh of Thornhill and Sarah Cairl of Monroe, Ohio. The tribe of Dan included 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Predeceased by his parents John (1960) and Anna (1986) Tomen. Brother to the late Peter (1999), the late Mary Gresko (2005), Nellie Russchen, the late Jean (2008), Nick, the late Olga Michalik (2000), Paul, Steve, Lillian Fortuna. <br /> <br />Served in the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. The war ended in 1945 but not his nightmares from all the horrors he had witnessed and suffered from PTSD. <br /> <br />Dan was an entrepreneur, inventor, welder, wagon maker (Tomen Manufacturing - Chatham), landlord, owner of an auto dealership, preacher, fisherman, avid hunter, hitchman (Tow Hitch - London), grassman (Evergreen Wheatgrass Juice), fly trapper and gardener. Dan worked hard to provide for his family and took great pride in the fact that they never had to worry about food, clothing, shelter or piano lessons. <br /> <br />Visitation will be held at Victoria Greenlawn Funeral Home, 1525 Highway #3, Oldcastle (Windsor) (519-969-3939) on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the chapel service at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. <br /> <br />If so desired, donations may be made to International Humanitarian Society, an outreach to women in Africa directed by his grand daughter Rachel.
